|

When convicted for Driving without Insurance, you should expect many other challenges that will come your way. Other than the penalties that we have already discussed, there are also other penalties that you should prepare for and they are the following:

You will have to pay for your vehicle damage

You will have to pay for your vehicle damage. If you have an uninsured car and you decide to drive it in Michigan even if you were not the driver at fault that caused the injury or damage you will have to cover your expenses. You will not even be able to use the Michigan mini-tort law in recovering even the small amount of up to 3,000 dollars

You will be held personally liable for the injuries and death caused

In the instance that you are the one who caused the injury or the damage you will not just pay all of the other penalties and all of the things that you need but you also will be held personally liable for the injuries in the death caused by the accident. No matter how tragic the specific thing is you should keep in mind that you could be held personally liable for the injuries or the death that you caused.

What does personal liability mean?

You may be convicted for the criminal liability relating to the injuries and the death caused and you may also be held personally liable for the pain and suffering as well as the compensation or wrongful death. This is because you have no liability insurance that would have provided coverage to protect you and your family’s assets from civil liability. Your unwillingness or inability to get the insurance would affect not just your assets but your family’s assets as well.

You will pay other people’s medical bills

When you have been in an accident and you have been injured you already know that you will spend a lot of money and time getting better. Unfortunately, you will also spend a lot of money paying for the medical bills of other people. The individuals who are involved in your accident and who are facing injuries will need to be compensated for their medical expenses and you will be legally required to pay for the medical bills of anyone who was injured.

Generally, when an accident happens you will not be required to pay any damages because you will be compensated and covered by your insurance policy. In this instance, you will also have to pay the medical bills of the other parties involved in the accident but this will be covered by your insurance.

In the instance that you think that you do not need insurance to pay for the damages in case of an accident for your vehicle, you may want to think again. We repeat that you will have to pay for other people’s medical bills and all of the damages coming from the injury if you do not have any insurance on your vehicle. This is on top of the other liabilities and penalties that you have to endure.

You will pay other people’s lost wages

Other than paying for other people’s medical bills, you will also have to pay for the people’s lost wages. For the same reason that you are required to pay for the medical bills and have personal liability you are also personally liable to pay for other people’s lost wages

You will pay for other people’s vehicle damage

If you have been in an accident and you received the bill coming from other people for their lost wages and for compensation of their medical bills you will also receive a bill coming from their car shops covering their vehicle’s damage.

In a normal setting, you have to keep in mind that you will only need to pay for the deductibles that are covered by your insurance provider. Unfortunately, if you do not have any kind of insurance that covers the damages relating to your vehicle or in cases of injury everything that you have to pay for will be paid out of your pocket.
